Ourbella Began With My Daughter
She taught me to see color before rules—to trust instinct, curiosity, and the shades that simply make us feel something.
THE BEGINNING
She Simply Chose What She Loved
Like most adults, I had learned to think about color in rules. Which shades belonged together. Which combinations felt wearable. Which choices were beautiful, tasteful, or correct.
Then I watched my daughter paint.
She never stopped to ask whether the colors matched. She did not worry about making a flower look like a real flower, or an animal look the way it was supposed to. She chose the colors that delighted her and followed wherever they led.
She was not trying to be different. She was simply creating before anyone had taught her to doubt her own eye.
Color was never meant to follow rules.
That realization became the beginning of Ourbella.
Color Without Rules
In her paintings, color was free to become anything. Animals did not need to look real to feel alive. Beauty came from joy, energy, and imagination—not from getting everything right.
Imagination Before Definition
She did not paint to prove a point. She painted by feeling. That instinctive freedom became the part of her world I wanted Ourbella to preserve.

When I began creating Ourbella, I kept returning to her paintings. I did not want to make colors that could be understood from only one angle. I wanted them to feel alive—to shift in the light, reveal something unexpected, and resist being reduced to a single definition.

That is why multichrome, duochrome, shimmer, and luminous texture feel so central to Ourbella. They carry the same freedom I first saw in my daughter’s work: one color becoming many things without asking permission.
To us, beauty is not about fitting into one version of yourself. You can be soft and bold. Quiet and radiant. Delicate and expressive. You do not have to choose just one side.
We put light, shift, and dimension into the color. You decide what it means today.

This story began with my daughter, but it was never meant to remain only ours.
As children, many of us loved color before we learned to question it. We reached for what fascinated us. We mixed what was not supposed to match. We created without first asking whether we were doing it correctly.
Ourbella is an invitation to trust your own eye again—to choose the shade that draws you in, wear it softly or intensely, and let it mean something different tomorrow.
My daughter reminded me that color does not need permission. Ourbella exists to pass that freedom on.
